Privacy Policy

      We collect only what is necessary to deliver your daily message and run the community. We do not sell your information, require an account, or store anything personal beyond your chosen display name.
    

1. Who We Are

2. What Data We Collect

Posted is designed to collect as little as possible.

Anonymous user ID: A randomly generated identifier created on your device the first time you open the app. It is stored locally and used to fetch your daily message and record your interactions. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information.
Display name: The name you choose during onboarding is stored locally on your device and on our servers. It is used to attribute messages you contribute to the community and is visible to other users.
Message interactions: Likes, saves, shares, and downvotes are sent to our servers using your anonymous user ID. These are used to surface popular messages and improve the feed.
Topic preferences: Stored locally on your device only. Not transmitted to our servers.
Notification settings: Stored locally on your device. Not transmitted to our servers.

3. Messages You Submit

When you write and submit a message, that text is sent to our backend (hosted on AWS in the Sydney region) where it is reviewed by an AI moderation system before being added to the community pool. You should be aware that:

Submitted messages are stored on our servers if approved
Approved messages may be shown to other users and are attributed to your display name
Messages are processed by an AI model (Claude, provided by Anthropic) for moderation and categorisation
Message text is transmitted over HTTPS and is not used for advertising or profiling

4. Your Display Name

The display name you enter is checked by an AI system to ensure it meets community guidelines before being saved. The name is sent to our servers over HTTPS solely for this check and is then stored against your anonymous user ID. You can update your name at any time in Settings.

5. Advertising

Posted displays ads provided by Google AdMob. These appear when you open the app and occasionally after submitting a message. Google may use device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant advertisements in accordance with their own privacy policy. You can review Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Notifications

If you enable daily notifications, Posted schedules them locally on your device. No notification data is sent to our servers. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or within the Posted app.

7. Children's Privacy

Posted is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted data through the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted to this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
